EMDR Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) and Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) Training

EMDR-Informed Early Intervention (EEI) is used to treat acute distress before trauma memories have been integrated. EMDR Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) and EMDR Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) are researched-informed, highly effective EEI strategies for reprocessing recent trauma and building resilience. Given the myriad of ways person-made and natural disasters are creating trauma individually and within communities throughout the world, these protocols are particularly useful and timely.

Course Overview

Trauma Recovery/HAP’s EMDR Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) and Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) Training combines didactic lectures, video case demonstrations, and hands-on practicums over two days. Day one is dedicated to the R-TEP, while day two focuses on the G-TEP.

We offer flexible learning options, including live virtual and in-person trainings nationwide.

Course Description

$370 • 14 HOURS

EMDR has demonstrated effectiveness in treating chronic PTSD and old trauma memories, yet EMDR-Informed Early Intervention (EEI) has received less attention from EMDR researchers or clinicians. EEI may be used to treat acute distress (before trauma memories have been integrated) and provide brief intervention, possibly on successive days, that may prevent complications and strengthen resilience.

The Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) is part of a comprehensive approach to EEI. This workshop incorporates and extends existing protocols within a new conceptual framework, together with additional measures for containment and safety. By checking for sub-clinical sticking points that can obstruct Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) and don’t necessarily show up on the DSM radar, the R-TEP may reduce sensitization and accumulation of trauma memories.

The EMDR Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) is a group application of the R-TEP. This portion of the workshop presents a new practical application with a worksheet format for simplified utilization in emergency situations.

This two-day workshop is taught with video case illustrations, live demonstration and a practicum. To receive credit for this training, you must attend both days in full. You cannot miss or be late for any part of the training.

    While Trauma Recovery/HAP goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participant and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the conference/convention staff or an officer of Trauma Recovery/HAP. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.

    1. When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance or expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken. If the grievance concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to express their comments in written format. The Education Chair/Continuing Education Director will then pass on the comment to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the aggrieved individual.
    2. If the grievance concerns a workshop offering, its content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered, the Convention/Conference Chairperson will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the Convention/Conference Chairperson will:

    2a) attempt to move the participant to another workshop.

    2b) provide a credit for a future workshop or on-demand course equally valued;

    2c) or provide a partial or full refund of the workshop fee.

    **Actions 2b and 2c require written notes documenting the grievance for record keeping purposes. Either note need not be signed by the aggrieved individual.

    1. If the grievance concerns the Trauma Recovery/HAP CE program in a specific regard, the Education Chair/Continuing Education Director will attempt to arbitrate and will engage the Clinical Consultant team and when necessary, the Executive Director. The Shapiro Effect

    Our non-profit organization was founded by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1995 as a response to the Oklahoma City bombing. Her revolutionary work created a momentous ripple effect that is still felt today. We’ve played a pivotal role in bringing EMDR to the world — training thousands of clinicians, building regional Trauma Recovery Networks® and delivering humanitarian mental health services — ensuring that trauma recovery is widely accessible, especially in the most underserved and crisis-affected communities.
