Host an In-Person Training

Browse the sections below to learn about hosting an in-person training with Trauma Recovery/HAP.

EMDR Basic Training Part I or II

This section only pertains to information regarding the Host Agency. For registration fees for participants, please see “Answers to Training Questions” section under Training Tab or click here.

Any non-profit or public sector agency that wishes to expand the resources of clinicians working with under-served populations can partner with Trauma Recovery/HAP to bring EMDR or other trauma-related training to its community.

Agency Responsibilities
EMDR Basic Training consists of a Part I and Part II Training Event.  Each part is three days of didactic and supervised practice. Typically, the Part I and the Part II are scheduled three to five months apart.

  • Assign Coordinator – To begin planning an EMDR Training Event, a host agency provides a designated coordinator who is Trauma Recovery/HAP’s main contact. This person works closely with Trauma Recovery/HAP’s Training Coordinator to plan an EMDR Training Event.
  • Recruit Participants – The host agency contact is responsible for promoting the training event. The agency may offer the training to its own personnel and/or may open it to clinicians from other non-profit or public sector agencies in the community.
  • Provide Venue – The host agency also provides a venue for the training activities, typically a large room for lecture presentation and a smaller breakout room for each group of 9 participants. These spaces are needed each day throughout the Part I and Part II EMDR training event.
  • Provide Logistical Support – Host agencies are also asked to assist in the logistical needs of the training on the days of the event.

Trauma Recovery/HAP Responsibilities

  • Provide Training Team – Trauma Recovery/HAP will send a professional EMDR trainer and facilitators to your location for onsite training.  The Trauma Recovery/HAP staff members are volunteers who have extensive experience in EMDR training.
  • Offer Financial Reimbursement for Training Team – Trauma Recovery/HAP pays all costs associated with the travel, room and board of Trauma Recovery/HAP volunteers.
  • Provide Online Registration and Manuals – Trauma Recovery/HAP provides an online registration and payment system once a training event has been scheduled.  Training manuals, which participants keep, are also provided.

CEUs
Hosting agencies may request Trauma Recovery/HAP to arrange for 20 CEUs, which can be purchased by eligible trainees — Trauma Recovery/HAP will email those trainees a keycode, through www.ce-classes.com after the event.

Alternatively, agencies may apply for CEUs on their own for their training event.  Trauma Recovery/HAP will provide all necessary documentation to agencies who choose to apply for CEUs.

R-TEP and G-TEP Workshop

EMDR has demonstrated effectiveness in treating chronic PTSD and old trauma memories, yet Early EMDR Intervention (EEI) has received less attention from EMDR researchers or clinicians. EEI may be used to treat acute distress (before trauma memories have been integrated) and provide brief intervention, possibly on successive days, that may prevent complications and strengthen resilience.

The Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) is part of a comprehensive approach to Early EMDR Intervention (EEI). This workshop incorporates and extends existing protocols within a new conceptual framework, together with additional measures for containment and safety. Checking for sub-clinical sticking points which can obstruct Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) and don’t necessarily show up on the DSM radar, the R-TEP may reduce sensitization and accumulation of trauma memories.

The EMDR Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) is a group application of the EMDR Recent-Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP).

This portion of the workshop presents a new practical application with a worksheet format for simplified utilization in emergency situations. The EMDR R-TEP and G-TEP have shown beneficial results in controlled studies conducted by Turkish colleagues working with Syrian refugees.

The R-TEP/G-TEP workshop is taught with video case illustrations, live demonstration and a practicum.

Daily Schedule (Both days):
9.00 – 10.30 (Registration 8:30)
10.30 – 10.45 BREAK
10.45 – 12.15

Minimum participants required: 16 qualified and eligible participants to schedule an event.

LOCATION:  Ask agencies to host or offer space. Perhaps a local TRN Chapter can find a space.

MEETING ROOM AMENITIES:  It is the agency’s responsibility to provide A/V support (computers, projectors, screen, microphone if required) to the training team. If trainers have their own equipment, the agency and trainer can determine who supplies what.

PRESENTATION MATERIALS: Client DVDs, PowerPoint slides and participant manual with PowerPoint and protocol script content.

Minimum number attending: Ideally 16-20 participants for one presenter, additional facilitators for each 16 participants to assist in the practicum exercises.

CEUs offered: 12 EMDRIA Credits, 12 CEU Credits

Participants who qualify have the option to purchase 12 CEUs through www.ce-classes.com.

Hosting agencies may request Trauma Recovery/HAP to arrange for 12 CEUs.  Eligible trainees will be allowed to purchase these CEUs from www.ce-classes.com using keycodes which will be emailed to them after their attendance at the training has been confirmed and payment has been received.

Alternatively, agencies may apply for CEUs on their own for their training event.  Trauma Recovery/HAP will provide all necessary documentation to agencies who choose to apply for CEUs.
