Continued Growth Across the Trauma Recovery Network®

We are witnessing and experiencing traumatic events, both human-made and natural, at an overwhelming pace; an unfortunate truth we’ve been faced with these past few years. We continue to feel a pressing need to grow and expand our Trauma Recovery Network (TRN®) to meet the demand for mental health support in communities across the United States, as well as around the world.

The Trauma Recovery Network was formed to provide pro bono EMDR Informed Early Interventions during times of emergency. Staffed entirely by trained volunteers, each TRN serves their local community through a program of preparation, mitigation, rescue and response.

In 2025, we welcomed seven new locations to our network and currently have another five in the process of formalizing.

New TRNs in 2025:

  • Los Angeles County TRN
  • TRN Association of Maryland
  • Mercer County TRN in New Jersey
  • North Carolina TRN
  • TRN Association of New Jersey
  • Maine EMDR TRN
  • Puget Sound TRN in Washington State

It takes a great deal of coordination and work to set up a new TRN location. We are extremely grateful for the coordinators and consultants who are willing to step into these leadership roles. As of September 2025, there are 66 active TRN locations throughout the United States, as well as a few international locations, amounting to more than 1,700 volunteer members.

Recent and ongoing disaster response efforts have been carried out this year to support communities impacted by the following disasters:

  • LA Wildfires – coordinated effort by the Los Angeles County TRN, Orange County TRN, San Diego TRN, and Northern CA TRN
  • High School Track & Field Incident, Colorado Springs, CO – Pikes Peak TRN
  • Mass casualty event and support for first responders – Tallahassee Area TRN
  • Mass Casualty event in Southern California – Orange County TRN
  • Victims of gun violence and crime – Greater Chicago TRN
  • School Shooting Evergreen, CO – Denver TRN and Rocky Mountain TRN
  • Grand Blanc Township, Michigan Church Attack – Michigan Tri-County TRN

Trauma Recovery/HAP staff have been working with TRN leadership to effectively use Qualtrics, a data collection and management tool, to track response data and support ongoing research on EMDR early intervention. Since January, TRN leadership have reported providing individual and group sessions across all age groups; children, teenagers, and adults. A variety of EMDR informed early interventions have been used, to include psychological first aid, ASSYST, the Flash Protocol, and R-TEP and G-TEP.

We are also working on new marketing and awareness building tools to support program success. Take a look at the redesigned TRN Brochure.

You can support the expansion of the Trauma Recovery Network by volunteering, joining or establishing a TRN in your local community, or making a donation. Learn more about getting involved here.
